FSC CERTIFICATE

Increased interest and concern about climate change and environmental health has led to increasing calls for labeling over the past few years, allowing consumers to distinguish between more and less sustainable options. Environmental certificates are one of the ways to assure consumers of the environmental suitability of the products they buy.

As a result of the collective form of self-regulation, so-called certification networks began to appear, which unite the central actors of the assurance system, such as growers, producers, wholesalers, consumers, non-governmental organizations and others. The FSC organization and its certification system were also formed from similar motivations. The main goal of such networks is to establish more sustainable patterns of production and consumption within existing market structures.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization that promotes sustainable (responsible) forest management (SIDG). The goal of forest certification is to ensure to customers that the wood products they buy come from independently certified forests, managed according to the principle of sustainability, multi-purpose and sonar nature. The obtained certificate also guarantees the company a better position on the market.

FSC has assured customers that producers of products bearing this certificate:

They support environmentally friendly, socially beneficial and economical forest management.
They support the use of native tree species.
They preserve biodiversity, the reproductive capacity of forests and the ecological processes in them.
They help local and wider society to enjoy long-term benefits from the conservation of forest resources, taking into account long-term, sustainable forest management planning.
They support sustainable forest management that ensures sufficient yield that does not come at the expense of forest resources, the ecosystem or affected local communities (FSC).
These goals encourage management and development in six program areas: forests, chain of custody, social policy, monitoring and evaluation, quality assurance and ecosystem services.
